Communication
Effective communication is essential for all types of learning as well as for leadership. In this lesson we studied Web 2.0 technology and its use in education, and then had to develop a series of podcasts. I love podcasts and this was a fun assignment to work on. There is something about a podcast that makes the medium seem almost magical. Maybe it is because with a Podcast there is the element of story telling that which forces you use your imagination. This was a favorite assignment because I love the production of podcasts along with the writing that goes into them.
The following series of podcasts provide an introduction and overview of producing a video, and outline the three stages of production; Pre Production, Production and Post Production. The intent with this series is to provide the concepts for producing a video and to encourage listeners to contemplate all three stages before starting a video project.
The TechHub To Podcast series delivers high quality instructional techniques for faculty at Chemeketa Community College, in 10 minutes or less. The primary objectives for the podcast series are to: Deliver high-quality faculty development opportunities. Increase participation for college faculty who cannot attend face-to-face sessions on the main campus. Provide trainings in multiple formats, in order to meet the needs of college faculty.
There is something unique about audio that is simple and effective; allowing a listener the opportunity to take advantage of traditional limitations on time and space, to still participate in professional development opportunities. At Chemeketa Community College, face-to-face training sessions for faculty have had a rapid decrease over the past several years, and podcasts fit a specific training need, due to their nature being on-demand and portable. The podcasts are purposely kept to 10 minutes or less as to keep listener’s attention, while providing useful and effective technology solutions for teaching and learning. The podcasts deliver effective multimedia instruction due to their conversational and informal tone, while still maintaining a professional emphasis, and providing relevant information.
